Weekly Wrap Up

If I were to do a wrap up of this week, it would be that I was sick, in the hospital and then in my bed. I am on the road to recovery now, but I didn’t do a weekly wrap-up last week and it was an interesting learning week for the kids, so I thought I’d do that.

The kids and I were in Canmore, Alberta.  They loved swimming and went almost every day.

Einstein and Snuggle Puppy had a lot of fun washing the van.

They did crafts, played games, and coloured.

We did the letter “J” with the highlight for the kids of course being the jelly bean graphing and later, the jelly bean tasting!

There was a lot of tobogganing!  What a beautiful place!  The kids loved being outside and having their friends K. and A. in the cabin next to ours and able to play outside with them made it that much better.

Some of the kids also went exploring in the woods and Miss Optimism felt like she was Nancy Drew when they came across an abandoned car and trailer in the forest!  She deduced that it must have been a drunk driver because there was a beer bottle and scratch marks and cigarettes.

There was a rec. room in the lodge that had board games and shuffleboard and air hockey and pool tables and ping pong.

We went to the Ammonite Factory and had a tour.  It was actually rather fascinating as the gem ammolite is only found in a tiny corridor of Alberta and is from the fossil of ammonite, a prehistoric squid.  The kids listened really well for the whole hour presentation and seemed to retain a lot of the information.

Einstein was very excited because in the showroom, there was a tiny piece of coal from the actual Titanic.

We finished off one day over at my friend Denise’s cabin doing Tim Tam Slams.  That is when you bite off opposing corners of a Tim Tam cookie and suck up your hot chocolate through it and then shove it in your mouth when it is all gooey.  The kids were big fans of this one!!!

Snuggle Puppy, Einstein, and Miss Optimism also went skiing in the mountains and spent some time with cousins.
