  1. What a list! There are children in my son’s playgroup with gluten issues. This is goiog to be so helpful.

  2. Gluten-free or otherwise, that’s a great list of snacks! I love having snack ideas handy. You’ve been at the gf for 2-3 weeks now…how are you and the kids finding things? Do you notice any differences in health issues/behaviour issues? How much harder are you finding it (planning meals, buying ingredients, etc)?

    Blessings,

    Ruth

  3. The snacks look awesome. Good job having such a great list.

  4. Great list of gluten free snacks. Nice healthy muffin tins!

  5. What a great list. I’ve been considering trying a few weeks gluten free but I fear how much work it will be. When I finally have the time and energy to plan my gluten free trial, I will definitely be coming back to your blog as a resource!

  6. Did you pick up those Grimms Mini Peps? Those are our go to snack. If you can fill the kids up with extra protein it will also help them feel less hungry.

  7. If you go to the “Healthy Shopper” then you can find some coupons for gf products. Your trays looks so colorful and amazing. You are doing a great job Sharla!!

  8. Hi! I’ve never commented on your blog before but we have “met” through a few yahoo groups. We recently revamped our diet and I have a few more ideas for you:

    - fruit kabobs
    - ants on a log (celery smeared with almond butter, peanut butter, or cream cheese and sprinkled with raisins)
    - homemade smoothies (a daily event in our house)
    - homemade jello (Mix 1 Tbsp. agar-agar with 3-1/2 cups fruit juice and simmer for 15 minutes. Pour into mold with fresh fruit berries, and refrigerate.)
    - banana ice cream (Peel a number of very ripe bananas. Break into one-inch pieces and freeze in a closed plastic bag until very hard. Just before serving, run through a juicer, or blend in blender with a small amount of liquid (water or juice). Serve immediately. Add carob powder or berries to blender for different flavours or top with fruit and nuts.)
The jello and ice cream recipes I discovered on my naturopath’s website.
    Have fun!
    Lisa

  9. You have a really good list, Sharla!

A few other things we do are:

GF Mini Muffins – I make up a big batch and freeze them so that I have them when I need them. Sometimes I make extra small ones and roll them in powdered sugar after they come out of the oven. The kids think they’re doughnut holes!

    Dried Mangoes – So delicious!

Kale Chips – If you’ve never them, they’re surprisingly good!

Apple Sandwiches – Slice an apple horizontally into slices about 1/4″ thick. Spread with nut butter (we use Sunbutter) and sprinkle with granola, coconut, raisins, mini chocolate chips…whatever you like. Put two slices together to make a sandwich.

I also made Apple Smiles, slicing the apples in eighths to resemble two lips. Spread with nut butter, line one slice with mini marshmallows, and put another one on top so that it looks like a smile.

Monkey Munch (or Muddy Buddies, Puppy Chow)

Dry cereal – as a part of the muffin tin snacks

GF Pretzels with dip, or dipped in chocolate for a special treat

Suzie’s Rice Thins – Amazon sells them if you can’t find them locally. Much thinner than regular rice cakes, and nice for a change.

Lots of different types of smoothies – fruit smoothies, chocolate banana smoothies, etc.

    Hope this helps!

    Denise
