Leftovers = Love

The Husband has been away since last Thursday and will be away until tomorrow afternoon. As you may have guessed from my blogging hiatus, our family has been faced with several crises and mini crises. So with The Husband away and me feeling like the weight of the world was on my shoulders, I announced on Facebook that the kids and I would be skipping Thanksgiving (for those who don’t know, Canadian Thanksgiving was this past weekend). But Thanksgiving didn’t skip us…

Three of my friends brought us their Thanksgiving dinner leftovers! One dropped some off one evening and stayed for an awesome visit which was just what I needed. One dropped hers off the next morning and I was amazed to see that none of the food was duplicated and another unexpectedly arrived with her leftovers last night and again, there were no duplicates! God is cool that way! We ended up with turkey, ham, meatballs, zucchini bake, cabbage rolls, corn, carrots, sweet potatoes, potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, pasta bake, fruit, pumpkin pie, and apple pie! Seriously! Our family ate better than when I do up a big holiday meal!

So today when I made the lunch muffin tin trays entirely with the leftovers gifted to our family, I was thankful for the love of friends who are supporting us through this time. And isn’t being thankful what Thanksgiving is all about?

P.S. An extra special thank you to Andrea – your concerned comment encouraged me to get blogging again!
